Dimapur, 9 December (MTNews): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has submitted a memorandum to the Nagaland Governor urging the repeal of the Nagaland Total Liquor Prohibition Act 1989 in Dimapur district. Reiterating its earlier demand submitted to the government, DUCCF stated that the NLTP Act is a failed legislation, and the public has become unfortunate victims, not beneficiaries, due to the Act.
Citing various reasons in favor of repealing the Act, the DUCCF mentioned that the documentation is a collection from various sources and the expression of various learned individuals, church leaders, organizations, including civil societies. The DUCCF emphasized that the government needs to project strong political will and stand up for the rights and plights of its citizens.
