The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has declared the results for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams for 2025, revealing varied performances across districts in different streams.

Economics emerged as a significant challenge for many students this year, with Tseminyu recording the lowest pass rate at just 17.65%. Other districts such as Mon (27.75%), Phek (33.72%), and Noklak (38.46%) also reported low pass percentages in Economics. In contrast, Niuland achieved a perfect 100% pass rate in the subject.

In Mathematics, most districts struggled, with the exception of Mokokchung, which achieved an impressive 84.30%. No other district crossed the 70% pass mark.

The Commerce stream showed a mixed picture across the state. Tuensang and Peren emerged as exceptions with perfect pass rates, while other districts, particularly Mokokchung, saw a significant decline. Mokokchung’s pass percentage dropped to 59.62% in Commerce, a sharp decline from 90% in 2024 and 83.33% in 2023. Other districts such as Wokha (42.86%) and Kiphire (42.86%) faced difficulties in Physics. However, Kohima (86.00%), Mokokchung (89.03%), and Dimapur (75.55%) recorded better results in the subject.

In the Arts stream, Mokokchung performed well, securing an 85.71% pass rate. This performance was seen as a positive outcome, especially in contrast to the decline in the Commerce stream.

Tuensang and Peren also maintained strong performances in the Arts, contributing to the overall positive trends.

Mokokchung recorded an impressive 87.74% pass rate in the Science stream.

While some districts showed significant improvements, the results indicate a need for focused efforts to address challenges in core subjects like Economics and Mathematics.

In the HSSLC Examination, 12,404 students, 1,027 students, and 3,218 students enrolled for the Examination in Arts, Commerce and Science Stream respectively with a pass percentage of 84.05%, 81.40%, and 76.54% respectively.
