Kohima, 6 August (MTNews): Labour Department, in collaboration with Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), conducted an Awareness cum Medical Health Camp and Aadhaar Seeding today at the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Kohima.

Assistant Director of ESIC Regional Office Guwahati, Mario Manirhii explained that ESI is a social security Health Insurance Scheme under the Ministry of Labour & Employment and administered by the ESI Corporation. Manirhii said the scheme is applicable to factories and other establishments with 10 or more workers, whose salary is equal to or below Rs 21,000 with various benefits.

 

He also highlighted that failing to register with the scheme may result in penalties. Manirhii also mentioned about Shram Suvidha Portal as the platform for establishment and worker registration. The program primarily targeted coverable establishments located between Keziekie and New Secretariat in Kohima.

 

After the sensitization program, all attendees were offered free medical checkups. Aadhaar seeding was also conducted for workers who were already registered under the scheme. Altogether, 85 workers from 10 establishments participated in the program.
