Mokokchung, 4 August (MTNews): In a bid to promote sustainable agricultural practices and empower local farmers, the Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT) collaborated with the Chief AH & Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung, to organize a seminar on Commercial Scale Pig Farming at the Conference Hall, State Poultry Farm, Mokokchung on Friday.

The seminar, held as part of the ongoing ‘Survival Mokokchung’ initiative, aimed to equip farmers with the necessary knowledge and technical skills for successful pig farming on a commercial scale. The event drew participation from farmers and stakeholders in the district.

 

Leading the seminar was the resource person, Manoj Kumar Basumatary, the CEO of Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd based in Tezpur, Assam. He is also the Founding President of the North East Progressive Pig Farmers Association, bringing with him a wealth of expertise and experience in the field.

 

Prior to the technical session, a formal program commenced with Dr Nemjemyanger Kubzari, Farm Manager at SCBF Aliba, serving as the chairperson. Welcoming the participants, Dr BM Sunep, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of Mokokchung expressed his appreciation for the rare opportunity for local pig farmers to learn from a seasoned professional like Basumatary.

 

Members of the KAOT, including Nungsangwabang, Additional Secretary of the Planning Department, Government of Nagaland (former Vice President of KAOT); Dr Kika Longkumer, Joint Director of Health & Family Welfare and Vice President of KAOT; and Senka Jamir, Joint Director of the Horticulture Department and Executive Member of KAOT, also highlighted the importance of this initiative in uplifting and encouraging the local farming community.
