The Eastern Naga National Workers’ Organisation (ENNWO) on Tuesday asserted that the stand of the Eastern Naga National Workers’ Association (ENNWA) must remain aligned with the historical and political rights of all Nagas, while reaffirming its commitment to an early, acceptable and honourable Indo-Naga political solution.

In a statement issued from its designated camp at Khehoyi, the ENNWO said the ENNWA is a welfare body comprising members from all Naga political groups and headed by a convener, secretary and other officials drawn from the various communities of Eastern Nagaland.

The organisation said all political and welfare-related views should be communicated through official channels to allow for proper deliberation and coordination among its leaders.

Reaffirming its position, the ENNWO said the pursuit of an early, acceptable and honourable Indo-Naga political solution remains the foremost objective of the ENNWA and its members.

Referring to the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), the organisation said the matter concerns the Government of India (GoI), the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the Nagaland Government. It maintained that, as an association of Naga national workers affiliated with various Naga political groups, the ENNWA’s expression and aspirations should remain consistent with the historical and political rights of all Nagas.

The ENNWO further stated that while the Framework Agreement (FA) may have had “political inconsistency and deficiency”, the Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017 had “given flesh to the bones.”

Describing the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position as irreversible political documents, the organisation said all Nagas must continue to insist that the Government of India honour both agreements in “letter and spirit” to usher in enduring peace in Nagaland and the North East.

The statement was jointly issued by ENNWO Secretary Pongba Konyak and Convener Yamthong Yimkhiung.
