The Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU), a welfare body of Eastern Nagas under the GPRN/NSCN (RM Lotha/Kitovi), has acknowledged and supported the February 5 tripartite agreement signed between the Government of India, Government of Nagaland and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO).
In a press statement issued on February 19, the ENNWU described the agreement as a culmination of the long-standing demand of the Eastern Naga people for “equality, justice and fairness in governance,” and stressed that the implementation phase must be guided by accountability and transparency.
The tripartite agreement, signed on February 5, 2026, paved the way for the formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), aimed at addressing accumulated administrative and economic discrepancies in Eastern Nagaland.
The ENNWU stated that every inhabitant of Eastern Nagaland has invested “heart and soul” in the pursuit of equitable governance, and warned that any attempt to undermine those ideals during the transition period would be unacceptable.
While acknowledging the role of the erstwhile Tuensang Mon People’s Organisation (TMPO) pioneers which later evolved into ENPO, the union termed the FNTA arrangement as “justice to ENPO,” but maintained that the “true great victory” lies in achieving an honourable Indo-Naga political settlement.
The group further appealed to all apex tribal bodies under ENPO to come together in unity during the transitional phase and work collectively toward securing an acceptable Indo-Naga political solution.
The GPRN/NSCN is led by President RM Lotha, Vice-President Chennyiem Konyak, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi and Dy Ato Kilonser Jungshiwati Ao.
The statement was jointly issued by ENNWU Convener NT Yamthong Yimkhiung and Secretary F Pongba Konyak.
