The Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) has appealed to fans and spectators to maintain peace, brotherhood and sportsmanship ahead of the Dr T Ao Trophy Silver Jubilee Edition 2026 final between Mon and Tuensang districts on Thursday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ENPUM welcomed citizens of Eastern Nagaland gathering in Mokokchung for the final, scheduled to be played at 5:30 pm at Renpo Lu Sports Complex, Ungma.
The union said both finalists represented their own people and urged spectators, irrespective of tribal affiliations, to support both teams in a spirit of unity and fellowship.
“Competition is a part of sports, but it should never be at the expense of our relationships, our dignity, our brotherhood,” the statement said.
ENPUM also appealed to spectators to maintain discipline, respect fellow fans and refrain from any act, conduct or statement that could disturb peace or bring disrepute to the people of Eastern Nagaland.
The union warned that its office would monitor the situation and take serious note of any misconduct that tarnished the image of Eastern Nagaland in Mokokchung.
Calling for the final to be a celebration of unity and sporting spirit, ENPUM concluded: “May the best team win, but may brotherhood and unity win!”
The statement was signed by ENPUM president Y Among Yim and general secretary Nohochem Sangtam.
