Advisor for IPR, Soil & Water Conservation, Daochir I. Imchen, graced the second semi-final of the 25th Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Football Championship, held at Renpo Lu Sports Complex, Ungma, Mokokchung, on 27 October 2026.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Imchen recounted the history of Dr. T. Ao, who, despite the limited resources, exposure and opportunities available during his time, led India’s first Olympic football team at the 1948 London Olympics through his determination, discipline and extraordinary talent.
Extending his appreciation to the organising committee for keeping Dr. T. Ao’s legacy alive and providing opportunities for young people, Imchen congratulated the semi-finalists on their determination, sacrifice, perseverance and teamwork. He reminded them that while the jersey one wears represents one’s district, the character one displays represents who one is.
“No district can prosper in isolation; no community can progress by leaving others behind, and no state can achieve greatness without unity among its people,” Imchen stated. He urged the people to remember that they are all part of one larger Naga family, beyond the boundaries of the competition.
Acknowledging the difficult reality of thousands of young talents across the state struggling to find the opportunities they deserve, Imchen appreciated the leadership and vision of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for laying the foundations of an ecosystem that enables talented youth to explore opportunities and realise their dreams.
Highlighting the ambitions, creativity and potential of the younger generation, he said that the greatest resource of the state lies in the talent and energy of its young people. He also acknowledged the responsibility to provide the next generation with a future worthy of the proud legacy Dr. T. Ao had left behind.
Imchen encouraged the players to dream bigger and strive to become the best, not only in their districts and the state but also in the country, while upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship.
The second semi-final featured Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. Tuensang won 4–3, bringing Zunheboto’s campaign to an end. Tuensang will face defending champions Mon in the final on 29 October 2026 at Renpo Lu Sports Complex, Ungma.
