The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union, Mokokchung (ENPUM), has acknowledged its lapse in issuing a circular concerning “objectionable/manipulated content on social media” and said the matter has been resolved following a joint meeting with the Ao Senden.
In a statement, ENPUM said its circular issued on September 18, bearing reference number ENPUM/2026-09-2 and dated September 16, had created “misunderstanding and concern” among the public. It subsequently issued a clarification and withdrawal circular on September 21.
The clarification followed a joint meeting called by the Ao Senden through an official letter dated September 21. The meeting was held at Aor Kilem on September 23, with ENPUM attending and consulting with the concerned organisation.
According to ENPUM, it acknowledged its lapse in connection with the issuance of the circular during the meeting. Following “lengthy and thorough deliberation”, both sides concluded the matter in a spirit of understanding, unity and reconciliation.
The two organisations resolved to move forward together, “following the good example and legacy of our forefathers”, the statement said.
ENPUM appealed to the public to put the matter to rest, describing the misunderstanding as “unfortunate and unintended”. It urged all concerned to continue maintaining peace, harmony and brotherhood in the larger interest and welfare of the people.
