From Asukhuto, KPA, under Zunheboto district Nagaland, 30-year-old Kishetoli L Ayemi has always had a fascination for flowers and creative decorations. An engineering graduate by profession, Ayemi found her true calling in event planning—a journey that began with a childhood passion.

“I’ve been fascinated with flowers and all kinds of decorations since childhood,” Ayemi told MT. “As I grew up, I started helping people with their décor for free, simply because I enjoyed it. Then, around 2021 or 2022, I thought, why not turn this hobby into something more concrete?”

That thought gave birth to Eunoia_Decors, an event planning service specializing in weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties. Initially a hobby, it soon became a platform for Ayemi to channel her creativity and transform clients’ dreams into reality.

Ayemi operates mostly in rural areas, with a majority of her clients coming from social media or through word-of-mouth recommendations. Her services have so far catered to Zunheboto, Mokokchung and Dimapur districts, with plans to expand to Peren district.

However, business has its challenges.

“Event planning is highly competitive in Nagaland. Sometimes, we have a lot of clients, and other times business slows down because there aren’t as many weddings or events in the villages. But I’m testing the waters and seeing where this can go,” she said.

Ayemi stands out by tailoring her services to clients with varying budgets. “Some clients dream big but have limited budgets. I always try to adjust for them and work within their financial limits,” she said. “We discuss the budget and find creative ways to bring their ideas to life.”

For inspiration, Ayemi often looks to her clients’ ideas, adapting designs to meet their expectations. When faced with complex requirements, she draws on her own creativity or references designs from books and other sources. “Sometimes, we practice them to get it right”.

Eunoia_Decors has also collaborated with photographers to enhance event experiences, and Ayemi ensures she’s well-prepared for last-minute bookings by keeping all essential materials at hand.

As for the future, Ayemi is cautiously optimistic. “In the next five years, I want to expand and help my clients balance their dreams with financial realities. Event planning is a good business, and I hope to continue creating new designs and managing larger events.”
Eunoia_Decors may still be in its early stages, but under Ayemi’s creative vision, it’s steadily carving a niche in Nagaland’s event planning industry.
