With the aim to promote the tourism sector as well as local businesses in Mokokchung, a team of 5 like-minded entrepreneurs known as ‘Event Creators Mokokchung’ (ECM) is set to host the first ever ‘Happy Hills Festival’ on the 15th and 16th of December at the Yimchalu village ground in Mokokchung.

This year’s mega event, which the ECM hopes to organize annually, will be themed “Creating Memories with Family and Friends.”

Visitors to the two-day ‘Happy Hills Festival’ will experience a mega concert with one international band, merchandise stores that showcase local artifacts to promote local entrepreneurs, including paintings, food court, kids carnival, photo booths, campsites, virtual games and many more elements, the team said.

On the first day of the festival, attendees will experience the carnival, which starts at 10 AM, and following that there will be a concert with a wide range of local artists.

“The second day will be similar to day one during the day, but the festival will culminate with a mega concert featuring the renowned international band Girish and the Chronicles,” ECM said.

‘Event Creators Mokokchung’ was founded with the aim to promote art, music, events and entertainment based in Mokokchung to bring a fresh, unique approach to the event management industry.

According to the team, “there are no professional event management services in Mokokchung,” which made them decide to come together as a group “to do something for Mokokchung as a whole.”

There are many government sponsored events, but there have been a lack of event management groups. “The government in order to host events has been searching for creators such as us,” the team said.

In the past years, government supported events were organized in Mokokchung, but there have been instances where the government “were left disappointed with the management,” the team said.

There were many instances in the past where groups were formed just to disappear the next, the team asserted.

The team also added that, as a group, they are not confined to only hosting festivals, “but are open to any event management industries.” They said that it is “a holistic approach when it comes to any kind of event management.”

The team had initially planned to host the festival at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung but due to conflicts on dates with other events, the venue was shifted to Yimchalu Village ground. The team regretted a misprint on the tickets regarding the venue.

The tickets for the festival which are priced at Rs 2000, Rs1000 and Rs 300, varying on the number of persons allowed for entrance to the festival as well as access to the venue will be available at Bambusa Mokokchung, Urban Hub Cafe and Unique Bakery.

The ‘Happy Hills Festival,’ which is a Nagaland Tourism supported event will be solely owned by ECM, the team said.

The team also hoped that the visitors coming to experience the Hornbill Festival can also extend their stay in Nagaland to explore Mokokchung and attend the ‘Happy Hills Festival”.
