The 6th edition of the ‘FAC Mélange,’ organized by the Creative Arts Committee, began under the theme ‘Alchemy of Art’ at Fazl Ali College. Formerly called the September Melange, this three-day event is one of the biggest and most anticipated events of the college, celebrating creativity, skill, and talent through displays of ingenuity and a love for art.
The inaugural program featured the college’s music club, which ignited creativity with a musical cultural fusion. Asensor Jamir, Vice President of the FAC Students’ Union (FACSU), provided the prologue and invited everyone present, especially the students, to discover new passions and embrace creativity. A teachers’ exhibition debate on the topic “The Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989 Should Be Repealed” was held, enlightening the teachers, students, and invitees in attendance. On this occasion, the principal released ‘Coll Buzz,’ a newsletter initiated by the Department of English, and declared the ‘FAC Mélange’ open.
This year’s Mélange includes competitions such as painting, acapella, performance poetry, face makeover, FAC Got Talent, cosplay, musical recitation, a photography workshop, and a battle of bands, among others. Upcycled scrap art is one activity that began a week before the event, sponsored and mentored by the Eco Club of FAC, aimed not only at preparing students for the competition but also at encouraging and promoting reusability. Stalls, exhibitions, and sales are part of the event, managed by students from different departments, including the college’s alumni.
