The Longjang Helipad is probably the first community-built village helipad in the state.

The minister declared during the inauguration ceremony that the Longjang Helipad is one of the first in the state to be located in a village and that the ‘3 Buba Medemsanger Longjang Lanu Tata Zünga’ has demonstrated an exemplary initiation to the rest of the state of Nagaland, which was built entirely by the contributions among the zünga members. He emphasized that such an example will have an impact even on neighboring districts.

He also commended Longjang Village for producing an abundance of agricultural crops as well as for effectively executing numerous governmental projects in the village, which he said is a significant boost to the district and state.

He also stated that the RD Department has been reaching out to communities in the state via various programs to elevate the local economy and make the grassroots as stakeholders in the local economy’s growth.
In this connection, he observed that Longjang is a progressive village and commended the villagers’ efforts to work together for the benefit of the people.

While noting that his family and Longjang have a strong relationship, he stressed that political relationships are ephemeral but cultural bonding is everlasting. “Therefore, preserve and uphold the tie as one family,” he said.

T Temjen Jamir, Convener, Helipad Construction Committee, stated in his welcome address that the “Lanu Menden Tarensen” is the most crucial stage where they are responsible to look after the assigned duties directed by the Putu Menden (Village Authority) for a period of three years, as has been a good tradition of Longjang Village practiced since time immemorial.

“As we approached this stage, the Lanupokyim Zunga (3 Buba Medemsanger Longjang Tata Zunga) decided to initiate a good deed for the benefit of the village by building a Helipad,” he explained.

The convener went on to say that the Helipad had been constructed successfully owing to the kind contributions of all its members, and he hoped that this project would assist the Longjang Villagers in general and the surrounding communities as well as be chartered for medical emergencies.

He also thanked the government for approving the use of the Helipad for all purposes by order No.NST/HILL/412/2022-23/728.
