The Department of Fishery and Aquatic Resources in Kiphire has commenced a three-day training program aimed at equipping 30 local fish farmers with skills to produce value-added products, such as fish pickles. The training is being held at the District Horticulture Training Hall.


The program was inaugurated by special guests Sentinungba Longchar and Lipichem, who highlighted the potential benefits of producing value-added fish products. They emphasized that such initiatives could significantly bolster the local fish industry and enhance farmers’ incomes. Additionally, they pledged support from their departments, including the provision of packaging bottles for the products.

Nzanthung, the District Fishery Officer, opened the event with a welcome address, setting the stage for the training sessions. Esther from NSRLM is leading the training, which covers various aspects of producing fish-based products, including pickles, jams, and candies.

The primary goal of the program is to empower fish farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to create value-added products, aiming to increase their earnings and strengthen the local economy.
