A floral artistry workshop was organized by the Farmer’s Cell, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, in collaboration with the District Administration, Medziphema, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SAS, Medziphema on 31st October 2025.

ADC of Medziphema, P James Swu, speaking at the workshop, expressed his happiness about the floral artistry workshop as it was the first of its kind in Medziphema. He outlined the key aspects and benefits of the workshop while encouraging the participants to take part with full zeal to learn and apply the skills in their daily lives. He hoped that the workshop would serve as a learning experience and an opportunity to discover a new hobby that enhances creativity, adding that working with flowers can be therapeutic and stress relieving. Swu also emphasized the importance of flowers in human life and their role in boosting mental well-being, aesthetic appreciation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

In his speech, Prof. Dipak Sinha, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Medziphema Campus, NU, encouraged participants to attend the floral artistry workshop with dedication and stated that it would enhance creativity and skill development. He also highlighted the importance of flowers in daily life and the need to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.

The resource persons, Dr. Rokolhuu Keditsu, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture, SAS, NU; Dr. Nini R Kuotsu, Assistant Professor, Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development; and Abdul Rahman, Department of Horticulture, SAS, NU, spoke on topics such as symmetrical equilateral flower arrangement, scalene shape, resin floral art, centrepiece arrangement, Ikebana, and contemporary flower arrangements. Demonstrations of various flower arrangement styles and techniques were also conducted.

Earlier, the inaugural program was chaired by Dr Mary N Odyuo, Associate Professor, with an invocation by Dr Sentimenla Jamir, Assistant Professor, and a vote of thanks by Dr Sabbithi Pavan, Assistant Professor. Altogether, 84 participants, both offline and online, attended the floral artistry workshop.
