An awareness program on blood donation, cancer, and HIV/AIDS was organized by the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of MGM College, Dimapur, on November 1. The session aimed to sensitize students to key health issues while promoting empathy, responsibility, and community engagement.

The program was chaired by Kulongoi Tetseo, Head of the Department of Economics, and began with an invocation by Ahikali I Jakha, Head of the Department of English. A welcome address was delivered by Fr. Giju George, Administrator of the college, who emphasized the importance of awareness and preventive education in building a healthy and informed society.
The event featured two guest speakers — Dr Nito Yeptho, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre Officer at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), and Bendangtemsula, Counselor at CIHSR.
Dr Yeptho highlighted the scientific and humanitarian importance of blood donation, stressing that “blood cannot be manufactured — it can only come from generous donors.” He addressed myths surrounding donation and encouraged voluntary participation to sustain healthcare systems. Bendangtemsula discussed the psychosocial challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS and underscored the need for compassion and community support.
Their talks combined medical knowledge with empathy, urging students to view health awareness as a moral and social responsibility. An interactive Q&A session, moderated by Fuchamo Yanthan, Nodal Officer of RRC, allowed students to engage with the speakers and discuss practical aspects of health and awareness.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Lopilo P Yanthan, RRC Convenor, who acknowledged the resource persons, faculty, and participants.
