The foundation stone for the Khutak Valley Organic Processing Plant (KVOPP) was laid at the Khutak Valley processing site, Khanimu-Longjang village, by TN Mannen, IAS (Retd), Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, on May 3, 2025.


At the outset, the Advisor stated that Longjang has the potential to become the breadbasket of Mokokchung district, given its geographical location and fertile land, which is suitable for various farming activities.

Encouraging the youth and farmers, he stated that “farming is the salvation for the livelihood of the masses” and thanked the Department of Horticulture for the constant support rendered to the Khutak Valley Organic Producer Company Limited, Longjang (KVOPCLL), for the success of this project.

While thanking the retired officers of Longjang village for shouldering the responsibility of initiating the Khutak Valley Organic Producer Company Limited, he reminded them to protect the trademark and purity of the produce and to make KVOPCLL a recognized and reputable brand.

“Do not let temporary setbacks discourage KVOPCLL on the path towards a bigger vision, and let this project be the first step for an economic renaissance for the villages of Longjang and Khanimu,” encouraged the Advisor.

Dr Amenla, District Horticulture Officer, Mokokchung, in her speech, lauded the board members of KVOPCLL for paving the way for the farmers of Longjang and Khanimu village by introducing this income-generating initiative through organic products under MOVCDNER.

She also informed that the installation of machinery for the organic plant will commence soon, and at the same time, encouraged farmers to expand the plantation of citrus fruits in the region.

It may be mentioned that the Khutak Valley Organic Processing Plant (KVOPP) is a project launched by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), with the Entrepreneur Associates, Nagaland, as the supporting partner.

MOVCDNER is a central sector scheme implemented by the Government of India to promote organic farming and value addition in the North East. It aims to support farmers in adopting sustainable practices, create market linkages for organic produce, and build a robust organic value chain in the region.
