Day 3 of the Frolic Cup delivered a thrilling mix of closely contested matches and dominant performances.
The morning opener featured a gritty battle between IETC Warriors and Maova Youth & Students (MYS). The first half ended goalless, with both sides struggling to create clear chances. The deadlock was broken in the 46th minute when Lamkhogin scored for MYS. However, the Warriors equalized through Sedevituo’s strike in the 57th minute. With neither team able to find a winner in regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Maova Youth & Students clinched victory in the tie-breaker, 3-0.
In the second morning match, Khaibung Youth & Students (KYS) demolished Shaktiman FC with a 5-1 win. KYS asserted control from the start, with goals from Arap (15’), Patinsat (18’), Mangkhohao (19’), and Ngaminlun (30’) giving them a 4-0 lead at halftime. Rato added a fifth in the 51st minute. Shaktiman managed a consolation goal, but the result was never in doubt.
The afternoon clash between SFS Football Academy Juniors and Nissi FC showcased disciplined football. Nissi FC broke the deadlock with a goal from Sese in the 43rd minute. Chongsen sealed the victory with another strike in the 67th minute. Final score: 2-0 to Nissi FC.
The evening showdown between Medziphema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) and Simlai FC was a nail-biter. MVYO took an early lead through Nisede Peseyie in the 12th minute, only for Languimang to equalize with a stunning long-range goal in the 25th minute. Despite several chances, Simlai couldn’t convert, and it was MVYO’s Thejaseto Gwirie who secured the winner in the 69th minute with a clever direct kick. Final score: 2-1 in favor of MVYO.
