Dimapur, 30 January (MTNews): The Food Safety Authority, Dimapur, in coordination with the District Administration, Niuland, organized an awareness program for Food Business Operators (FBOs) of Niuland on 30 January.

A press release by FSA Dimapur stated that during the program, Designated Officer of Food Safety, Samuel Zehol, spoke on the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Act, 2006, and sensitized the FBOs on the importance of correct labeling of food products and recognizing various FSSAI logos.

He also addressed matters related to the hygiene and sanitation of food establishments, personnel hygiene, the medical fitness of food handlers, and emphasized a paradigm shift towards self-compliance through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), as well as the storage of food articles within the purview of FSSAI rules and regulations.

He urged the people to come forward for any complaints related to food poisoning, misbranded and sub-standard to Food Safety Authority, Dimapur under CMO office, Dimapur.

The program concluded with a demonstration by the Food Safety on Wheels Technicians, who conducted spot testing for common food adulterants in dal, milk, honey, vegetables and spices.
