Longsa, 6 January (MTNews): The 48th Imtimeren Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy, a sporting spectacle organized by the Longsa Sports Association and sponsored by Concerned Citizens and Sporting Aficionados, reached its climax today at Salang Lenden, Longsa, Mokokchung. The two-day tournament, held under the theme “To foster the young generation,” commenced on 5th January and concluded with a stirring final match.

G-Sports Mokokchung exhibited exceptional prowess, clinching the championship title of the 48th Imtimeren Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy 2023. In a thrilling final showdown, G-Sports Mokokchung went head-to-head with Fighting Peace, securing victory in straight sets with a decisive scoreline of 25-18, 25-12, 25-23.

For their outstanding performance, G-Sports Mokokchung was awarded a prestigious trophy, certificates, and a cash prize of Rupees 50,000. Meanwhile, the valiant Fighting Peace claimed the Runners-up position, receiving a trophy, certificates, and a cash prize of Rupees 30,000.

Individual excellence was also acknowledged, with several players receiving accolades. Watinuken was honored as the Best Spiker, Tongpangsunep was recognized as the Best Setter, and Chubamanen from G-Sports Mokokchung earned the title of Best Libero. The coveted Player of the Tournament award was bestowed upon Bendangtemsu from Fighting Peace.

A total of six formidable teams participated in the tournament, showcasing their skill and determination. The teams included Lion’s Club Longsa, G-Sports Mokokchung, and Fighting Peace in Pool A, while Pool B featured Eagle’s Club Longsa, Evergreen Club Ungma, and UYC Moalenden.
