Geologist Kevinguzo Chasie from Nagaland, along with his team, has been recognized for their contributions in the field of mineral discovery and exploration. The National Geoscience Awards – 2023 ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi, will honor Chasie and his colleagues. The event will be presided over by President of India Droupadi Murmu, with Union Minister for Coal & Mines G Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal & Mines Satish Chandra Dubey in attendance.

Chasie and his team members Sanjay Singh, Shailendra Kumar Prajapati, and Shashank Shekhar Singh from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) will receive the award in the category of Mineral Discovery & Exploration. This team recognition acknowledges their collective efforts and significant achievements in this domain.

The National Geoscience Awards, instituted by the Ministry of Mines in 1966 and previously known as the National Mineral Awards until 2009, honor outstanding contributions across various geoscience disciplines. The awards are presented annually in three categories: Lifetime Achievement, National Geoscience Award, and National Young Geoscientist Award.

Prof Dhiraj Mohan Banerjee has been selected for the National Geoscience Award for Lifetime Achievement, and Dr Ashutosh Pandey will receive the National Young Geoscientist Award.
