The Government High School (GHS) Bayavu successfully hosted its Annual Games and Sports Meet from March 10-12, with indoor games held at the school campus and outdoor events at Meriema Village Ground.
A press release from the school highlighted the success of the event, organized by the Sports Committee comprising Teacher Keneingusa, Vithongunuo, and Physical Education Teacher Kecubole.
The three-day competition featured football (boys), volleyball (women), arm wrestling, carrom board, 100m, 200m, tug of war, two-legged race, and fun events like sweet biting, musical chair, and spoon race for younger students.
The highlight of the meet was the GHS Bayavu Football Trophy, played on the final day, where Yellow House emerged victorious, with Red House finishing as runner-up.
During the closing ceremony, Acting Head Teacher Kikruneinuo Liezietsu delivered a vote of thanks, acknowledging the community’s support. The school expressed gratitude to Avilie Rio, Councillor of Bayavu Ward, for assisting with campus sanitation; Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, for providing indoor games equipment; and the Meriema Village Council and Meriema Youth and Sports Association for their support and ground allocation.
