Kohima, 7 November (MTNews): Government Middle School (GMS) Bayavü, Kohima, on November 7, 2023 conducted an exposure trip by hiking to Mt. Puliebadze, Jotsoma, in Kohima district.
An update from the school informed that the activity was conducted as part of learning beyond the classroom to better understand the ecosystem and the environment.
While climbing the mountain, the students also collected plastic waste and wrappers and disposed of them in the waste bins with the objective of maintaining a healthy and clean environment and promoting sustainable living.
The hikers also gained first-hand experience in identifying various plants, herbs, and trees, in addition to enjoying the sights of Kohima city and its surrounding areas from the mountain.
A class 8 student, Anice, remarked that it was an eye-opening experience, ‘it taught us that we ought to preserve nature and live in harmony with it.’
A total of 63 students from class 7 and 8, led by the Head Teacher and three teachers, undertook the hike.
