Meriema, 7 November (MTNews): Nagaland University, Kohima Campus on November 7, 2023, conducted the inaugural session of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP), focusing on the design, development, and delivery of online and blended learning courses. The event will continue from November 7 to November 11, 2023, organized by the Department of Teacher Education and sponsored by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi.The FDP, aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities in the modern education landscape, brought together educators, scholars, and administrators from across the academic spectrum. The program garnered significant attention for its robust agenda and esteemed guest list.
The inaugural session of the FDP witnessed the presence of Prof Jagadish Patnaik, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, as the Chief Guest. Prof Patnaik, known for his visionary approach to education, delivered an inaugural address that set the tone for the five-day program. The event also provided a platform for discussing future collaborations with the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) for other campuses of Nagaland University.
The event was also graced by Prof GT Thong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, who addressed the gathering about the significance of the program. Prof Jano S Liegise, Dean of the School of Humanities and Education at Nagaland University, welcomed the participants and resource persons. Her inspiring words highlighted the Department of Teacher Education as one of the best and most dynamic departments of Nagaland University.
The program’s success was attributed to the meticulous planning and dedication of Prof Gyanendra Nath Tiwari, Head of the Department of Teacher Education. In his heartfelt speech, Prof Tiwari thanked Vice-Chancellor Prof Jagadish Patnaik for his visionary leadership, Prof GT Thong for his invaluable support. In addition to the academic aspects, he also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the administrative and technical support teams, who ensured the seamless execution of the program. Prof PK Pattnaik, the Nodal Officer, and Dr Sushil Kumar Singh, the Program Coordinator, contributed to the seamless execution of the FDP.
Prof K Srinivas, the Program Director, provided a comprehensive background note about the FDP. The program was designed to equip educators with practical guidance on creating effective online and blended courses. The program aimed at improving student engagement, increasing flexibility, enhancing collaboration, improving technology skills, enhancing course design, increasing accessibility, and refining assessment strategies.
The inaugural session, held at the Ladies Common Room, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, was a platform for sharing knowledge, insights, and experiences, fostering collaboration, and paving the way for a more dynamic and technology-driven approach to education.
