In line with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and ongoing efforts to build a drug-free society, Good Shepherd High School (GSHS), Kiphire,  reaffirmed its status as a Tobacco-Free Zone on May 8, 2025. The reaffirmation took place during a plantation drive organized by Akehda Amulung under the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.”

The program began with a welcome address by the Headmaster, Mr. T.V. Thomas, who thanked Akehda Amulung for bringing such a meaningful initiative to the school. He reiterated the school’s commitment to creating a healthy and safe environment for students.

Longtili C. Sangtam, Founder of Akehda Amulung, delivered a short speech encouraging students and teachers to stay away from drugs. He emphasized that drugs can destroy life, ambition, and the future. He urged Good Shepherd High School to take the lead in spreading awareness and to become ambassadors of a drug-free Kiphire. He also stated that the tree plantation drive represents hope and a green future for the district.

The event also featured a pledge against drug and tobacco use, led by Apiba A. Sangtam, followed by closing remarks from T. Ariba, Chairman of Akehda Amulung.

The plantation drive and reaffirmation of the tobacco-free campus reflect the school’s dedication to nurturing a generation that values health, responsibility, and environmental care.
