The Gorkha Youth Association Kohima (GYAK) is set to host the inaugural Open Gorkha Beat Contest on 9 November 2024 at the State Academy Hall in Kohima. This exciting band competition invites participants from all communities, although each band must perform at least two Nepali songs.
The contest is open to bands with a minimum of four members. It promises to be a vibrant showcase of musical talent, with prominent musicians and lyricists serving as judges. The top three winners will receive cash awards of Rs 50,000 for first place, Rs 25,000 for second place, and Rs 15,000 for third place. Additionally, individual prizes of Rs 7,000 each will be awarded to the best vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer.
To participate, bands must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 5,000. The deadline for registration is 20 October 2024.
