Chumoukedima, 24 April (MTNews): Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan, graced the Convocation program of ICFAI University as the Chief Guest held at the University auditorium in Sovima Village, Chumoukedima, on 24 April 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor La Ganesan congratulated the achievements of 414 young scholars, 32 gold medallists, and the recipients of the Certificate of Merit, commending them for their exemplary performance.

Ganesan emphasized the rapidly evolving landscape of the job market and the urgent need for graduating students to lead this change. He encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation, urging them to be job creators rather than job seekers. He advised them to venture into unexplored paths, initiate startups, and become architects of innovative solutions urgently needed in today’s society. “Your education has equipped you with the tools not only to participate in the existing world but also to reimagine and reshape it,” he added.

As graduates and intellectuals, Ganesan reminded them of their moral obligations, spanning both personal and societal dimensions. He stressed the importance of using their knowledge and skills responsibly for the greater good. Regardless of their field, the underlying principles remain consistent: sharing knowledge through teaching, mentoring, or public speaking. He urged them to uphold high ethical standards in both their professional and personal lives, emphasizing honesty, integrity, and the courage to stand up for what is right, even in the face of opposition or personal cost.

Additionally, Ganesan encouraged students to engage in volunteer work, participate in civic activities, or work on projects addressing societal issues such as inequality, environmental sustainability, or healthcare. He urged them to leverage their skills and knowledge to create innovative solutions to complex problems.

Ganesan mentioned that as they stand on the threshold of managing not only accounts but potentially the finances of some of the most successful and affluent individuals, the future of our economy and society rests in their capable hands. He expressed hope that they would lead with responsibility, ethical conduct, and a commitment to societal progress. “As we envision a ‘Vikshit Bharat’ by 2047, your contributions will be pivotal. Your innovation, creativity, and resilience will chart our nation’s course towards development and prosperity,” he added.

Earlier, the Governor and dignitaries lit the traditional lamp. The welcome address and report were delivered by the Vice Chancellor. The Chancellor, Dr. VRK Prasad, addressed the gathering. The degrees were awarded by the chairman of the Academic Council, while the medals were presented by the Governor and dignitaries. On this occasion, the pledge was administered by the graduating students.
