“There may be heavy rainfall from the 28th to 31st of May all over the state. However, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur in certain pockets in the districts of Kohima, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, and Longleng during this period,” NSDMA said in a weather update.

The NSDMA has urged the public to be vigilant during the monsoon period and avoid taking shelter under large trees or have outings near river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash floods.
