Holy Cross Higher Secondary School hosts 32nd Mayangnokcha Awards Ceremony

The 32nd Presentation Ceremony of the Mayangnokcha Awards for Academic Excellence was held on Friday at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. Instituted by the Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT), the annual event honours exceptional academic achievers from across Nagaland.

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, graced the occasion as the special invitee. Congratulating the awardees, she acknowledged their perseverance, along with the unwavering support of parents and teachers. Reflecting on her own experience as a Mayangnokcha Award recipient in 2005, she described it as a “trophy of faith” and courage. She remarked that life’s greatest achievements often come without recognition and that humility enhances intelligence by keeping one open to new perspectives.

Encouraging students, Imchen said failure is an inevitable part of life and urged them to remain self-motivated. She called for a generation that is rooted in tradition yet creatively modern, globally competitive, and committed to sustainable growth. She emphasized authenticity, integrity, and empathy as essential qualities, and advised prioritizing health, discipline, and prayer. She thanked the trustees for upholding the legacy of education envisioned by Mayangnokcha Ao.

Earlier, Fr. Renthungo N. Odyuo, Principal of Holy Cross HSS, offered the invocation, followed by an address by Er. Moa Aier, Trustee of MAT, who highlighted the Trust’s legacy since 1993.

Lunghiyangle Nring of St. Paul HSS, Dimapur, received the Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence (Overall Topper) and the Mathematics Topper Award, earning ¹ 25,000, a certificate, and a trophy. Other toppers in Ao, Social Sciences, Science, English, and Agriculture received Rs 5,000 each, with certificates and trophies.

The event concluded with a Prayer of Blessing by Imnatoshi Longkumer, Associate Pastor of DABA.
