HORNBILL FESTIVAL DAY FOUR

 

Kohima, December 4 (MTNews): The morning session of the fourth day of the Hornbill Festival was graced by Executive Director and State Head, Indian Oil Corporation, Guwahati, G. Ramesh as the special guest on 4th December 2022. The host of the program was Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, and the Co-Host was Advisor, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan. In the evening session, the host was Minister, Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum.

In the morning session of the cultural program at Kisama, the Ao Cultural Troupe performed the Nokinketer Yar (Warrior’s Dance) which was accompanied by the Headhunting Ceremonial Ululation. This dance comprises movements that depict their preparation for battles and is led by a Commander who devises all the battle plans and strategies.

 

The Rengma Cultural Troupe, Kuki Cultural Troupe, the Angami Cultural Troupe and the Chakhesang Cultural Troupe, the Lotha Cultural Troupe and the Zeliang Cultural Troupe also performed various cultural items.

 

In the evening session of the cultural program, the Zeliang Cultural Troupe, the Pochury Cultural Troupe, the Kachari Cultural Troupe, the Sumi Cultural Troupe, the Garo Cultural Troupe, the Lotha Cultural Troupe, the Rengma Cultural Troupe and the Angami Cultural Troupe performed various folk and cultural activities.

Hornbill Festival registers highest visitors on Sunday

 

The fourth day of the 23rd edition of Hornbill Festival registered 19,393 visitors, the highest since it began on December 1. The visitors on the fourth day, a Sunday, included 86 foreign tourists, 5739 domestic tourists and 13,568 local tourists from Nagaland. This was informed by the day-wise statistics provide by the Department of Tourism, government of Nagaland today.
