Mokokchung, 8 May (MTNews): The International Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mokokchung District Branch on Wednesday commemorated the International Red Cross Day at the Chief Medical Officer’s Conference Hall under the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive”.

Thusvisie Phoji, Chairman, IRCS Mokokchung and Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, emphasizing on the theme stated that by joining the Red Cross Society, it reminds the people need to keep their faith in humanity setting aside the differences in creed, colour, race and tribe, adding that “we are humans, and we be belong to the same species.”

“We come together in times of happiness, we come together in times of turmoil, we come together in times of disunity, we come together in times of disasters,” Phoji said, further urging the people on keeping the spirit of humanity alive and to inculcate the spirit of humanity, encouraging the people to help one another in times of need.

He called upon the members of the Red Cross Society to be ready to face any kind of difficulties, conflicts, disasters and pandemics ahead of them, and encouraged having unity to overcome difficulties.

The program was chaired by Imnasenla, Office Assistant, IRCS Mokokchung; with an invocation by Peter Tungoe, LDA, CMO Office, Mokokchung; Dr SS Akaba Longchar, Honorary Secretary, IRCS Mokokchung, delivered the welcome address, and a special number was presented by Akumnaro Lemtur.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Allen Mark Longkumer, Member, Managing Committee, IRCS Mokokchung.

The program was also attended by the students from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, and Mokokchung Government High School.
