Local woodcraft artisan Imliakum showcased his handcrafted products at the craft bazaar organised by Women Entrepreneurs Mokokchung (WEM) at the MMC Complex on Thursday.

Imliakum’s work reflects a family tradition, with woodcraft being a generational skill practiced across all four siblings. Drawing from both traditional knowledge and modern platforms, he told MT, he also developed ideas and techniques through YouTube and social media.
Stating that his residence in the outskirts of the town, Satier, has been an advantage, he noted that access to raw materials such as wood has been relatively easier, enabling him to continue his craft with consistency.
He shared that most of his products are made on order and are often used as personalised gifts.
Imliakum further said that participation in platforms such as the WEM craft bazaar has helped him reach a wider customer base. According to him, demand for his products has increased since engaging with the initiative.
