Minister of Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, encouraged students to be game changers in society rather than parasites. He made this statement while addressing the 38th Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Kohima, as the Guest of Honour at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.


Congratulating the graduating students, he emphasized that obtaining a certificate is just the beginning of a lifelong learning process. He urged them to be truthful to themselves and revive the values of honesty, hard work, and hospitality practiced by Naga forefathers, leading society in the right direction.

In her welcome address and Director’s Report, Regional Director Dr. Premila Swamy D informed that under Kohima Regional Centre, 220 students would receive certificates out of 914 eligible candidates. These included 711 master’s degrees, 155 bachelor’s degrees, 31 diplomas, and 17 certificate programs.

Dr. Mayonmi Shimray, Assistant Regional Director, proposed the vote of thanks. IGNOU students also shared their experiences, and a special number was presented by Assistant Registrar Ato Tetso.

A total of 914 students completed their programs in 2025. The main convocation was held at IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi, and was broadcast live through Gyandarshan, YouTube, and Facebook. Commissioner & Secretary for Higher Education, Rajesh Soundararajan, Director of Higher Education, V Lovitoly Sema, and other IGNOU officials attended the event.
