Mokokchung, 8 October (MTNews): The proposed indefinite ‘chakka bandh’ called by the Commercial Vehicle Owners Association of four districts—Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and Longleng—scheduled to begin on Monday, 9 October, has been called off. This decision comes after the state government responded positively to the demands put forth by the association.
The association has indicated that, in accordance with the government’s assurances, they will wait until the 31st of October to assess whether their demands have been met. They have also cautioned that they will proceed with the proposed bandh if the government fails to fulfill their demands as assured.
The association further expressed their gratitude to the general public for the support and cooperation extended.

It may be mentioned here that the Government of Nagaland is said to be “actively considering on clearing all pending payment” and that “all the bills will be cleared for payments on or before 31st October 2023.” This was communicated by the Commissioner of Nagaland, Mhabemo Yanthan IAS, to the Deputy Commissioners of Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and Longleng on 8 October.
“Hence, a fervent appeal be made to the All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA) to call off the proposed chakka bandh as per the dateline issued by the Government and extend necessary cooperation to the authorities concerned,” the Commissioner instructed the Deputy Commissioners.
