The opening ceremony of the IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 was held on March 29 at Auditorium-I, Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, marking the start of one of the country’s largest skill development events. The competition will conclude on April 2.

Participants, officials, experts and dignitaries from 36 states and Union Territories have gathered for the event, reflecting a nationwide push towards strengthening skill development and youth empowerment. The competition follows a multi-stage selection process from district to state and zonal levels before reaching the national stage.

Nagaland is represented by one state official, a team leader and a lone participant, Imtisangla Kangshou, who secured a silver medal at the zonal level and is competing in the Restaurant Service category. This marks the first time Nagaland has reached the national stage of the IndiaSkills Competition.

The programme included an audio-visual presentation highlighting participation from across regions, followed by addresses from Prof. Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, and senior officials from departments of Technical Education, Skill Development, Employment and Youth Affairs.
