The 3rd Mokokchung District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2025 commenced today, marking the beginning of three days of multi-sport competitions.
The inaugural programme was held at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, with Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, gracing the occasion as the special guest. In his address, the DC said that such events bring government employees from various departments together on a common platform, fostering teamwork and improving coordination.
He added that the event promotes physical and mental well-being by encouraging a balance between work and leisure. He also expressed appreciation to the organizing committee for successfully arranging the event.
Special highlights of the program included a song presentation by Jubilee Memorial College. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by the District Sports Officer, Mokokchung, Zhopovi Zecho.
The tournament includes various disciplines such as badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, arm wrestling, futsal (men), penalty shootout (women), and athletics.
