Kiphire, 21 May (MTNews): The Inter-Kiphire District Cricket Tournament for Under-23 Boys, organized by the Kiphire District Cricket Association under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association, got underway today under the theme “United Colours Of Us.”
The event was graced by the presence of Aketo V Sangtam, Executive Chairman of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), as the special guest. In his address, Sangtam encouraged the young players to pursue their passion for cricket beyond just seasonal play. He highlighted the importance of sustained dedication and continuous improvement in their sport.
He also commended the Kiphire District Cricket Association for their efforts in organizing the tournament and urged them to continue hosting such events in the future. He stressed the importance of providing platforms for young talents to showcase their skills and develop their potential.
In the first match, Oasis Club competed against the Kiphire Knight Riders. After winning the toss, the Kiphire Knight Riders opted to bat first and posted a total of 82 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 14.5 overs. In response, Oasis Club was bowled out for 74 runs in 14.2 overs.
In the second match, Kiphire XI took on the Kiphire Super Kings. The Kiphire Super Kings, having won the toss, scored 100 runs in 15 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Chasing this target, Kiphire XI reached 104 runs in just 11.2 overs, securing the victory with 3 wickets in hand.
