An Inter-Ministerial Central (IMC) Team, led by Anant Kishore Saran, Joint Secretary (FFR) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, visited the landslide-affected areas in Pherima on September 10, 2024.
The team inspected the damage caused by the incessant rains, which led to mudslides and landslides in several areas along National Highway-29, including Pherima, Pagala Pahar Tseiphema, and Piphema. The IMC team also interacted with the people affected by the landslides, and local leaders briefed them on the situation in the affected areas. After their inspection, the team took note of the situation and expressed their solidarity with the affected communities.
The IMC team included Assistant Director Ranjana Saini from the Ministry of Rural Development; Superintending Engineer MS Saravana Kumar from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, CWC; Superintending Engineer Adelbert Susngi from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways; and Section Officer Atul Bamnai from the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. They were accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Chumukedima Polan John and SDO (C) Medziphema Selemla S Sangtam.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio also held a meeting with the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visiting Nagaland in response to the memorandum sent by the State Govt. “They will carry out on-the-spot assessment of damages caused by heavy monsoon rains. I hope they have a successful tour to the districts,” Rio posted on X.
