An emergency consultative meeting held today (December 2, 2024) in Dimapur resolved that the State Government and the concerned department must issue the work order for the Foothills Road project within four days, failing which “all participants from the 12 tribes shall pull out immediately from the Hornbill Festival.”
The meeting, attended by members of the NFHRCC, Dimapur-based Tribal Hohos, and the Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road, emphasized the importance of the Foothills Road project, describing it as a “People’s Project” fully initiated by the Naga public.
The participants stated that no individual, regardless of their position, can claim supremacy over the project. Any attempts to do so would be at their own risk.
The meeting also resolved that any changes to the road’s alignment must have written consent from the NFHRCC and that any attempt to alter the alignment without approval will face severe consequences.
Additionally, the committee reiterated that the work assignment given by the department, as communicated through letter NFHRCC/Gen-1/2023-24, dated October 28, 2024, must remain unchanged. Any alteration of this assignment by any authority will be considered a betrayal of the 12 Tribal Hohos, and the government or department will be held responsible for any resulting consequences.
