The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA, has announced the continuation of its ongoing Pen Down Strike after its meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the issue of selection of Non-SCS officers into the IAS ended without a resolution.

The meeting was held on October 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Office Chamber of the Chief Secretary, where the JCC placed its demands before the Government, a statement from the Media Cell of the JCC informed. The issue was extensively deliberated and debated, but the Cabinet Sub-Committee was unable to accede to the demands. It was decided that the Sub-Committee would place the matter before the State Cabinet for a final decision, it added.

It further informed all departments and service associations that the Pen Down Strike would continue until further instructions or until the Government meets their demands adding that all other modalities of the strike issued earlier would remain in force.
