Mokokchung, 21 April (MTNews): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Jubilee Memorial College (JMC), organized a one day workshop on Career and Counseling on the theme ‘Navigating New Direction’ on 21 April at Jubilee Memorial College.

Dr Renbeni Kikon, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Economics, Nagaland University, Lumami was the resource person.
The program was chaired by Dr L Merensangla, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, JMC and Dr Imtiwati Jamir, Principal, JMC delivered the welcome address. The program covered two topics namely, ‘Prism of possibilities: An insight into Civil exam’ and ‘Skill training and Entrepreneurship’.
In the first session, the resource person talked about how to choose a career path according to one’s skills and ability and to find a career that will be a good fit for oneself. She emphasized on examining oneself and reflecting on one’s motivations while choosing a career and how skills, interest and opportunity should intersect to show the area of one’s destiny. She also talked about the possibilities of entering into civil services. She added, “A civil servant should be willing to work in any part of the country to serve the public, keeping social welfare as the main goal.”
In the second session, she focused on Social Entrepreneurship saying “Social entrepreneurs directly and positively impact the society.” She also highlighted the issue of unemployment in Nagaland which was supported by data showing that Nagaland unemployment is significantly high among Northeastern states of India. Furthermore, she stressed that one should not limit oneself because of certain caliber or financial constraints as anyone can be a social change leader through entrepreneurial ideas.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks pronounced by Mulato Keny, Coordinator IQAC, Jubilee Memorial College.
