Shemford Futuristic School, Jorhat, Assam, recently organized a production-oriented workshop, culminating in a two-day presentation of the Broadway musical play Aladdin Jr on August 1 and 2, 2024, at the Jorhat Engineering College auditorium.
Renowned director and NSD alumnus Bendang Walling helmed the production, assisted by Dipen Hazarika as Assistant Director and Aotoshi Longkumer as Music Director. The workshop, attended by 120 students, spanned a month, starting from July 1, 2024, and covered various aspects of theater production, including set design, property design, costume design, music, and dance.
Bendang Walling, the Director and Resource Person, boasts an impressive portfolio of 15 theatrical plays and 6 films, including the award-winning web series Dreams & Chaos (Best Web Series, Kashi Indian International Film Festival). His accolades include NEZCC Young Talented Artist Award 2008-09 for Theatre, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar Award for Theatre Direction 2023.
