Mokokchung, 6 March (MTNews): The Jubilee Memorial College Annual Sports Meet commenced today under the theme “Unleash the champion within” at the Assam Rifles ground, with Dr Harish Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University, Lumami as the special invitee.
The day commenced with the rendition of the college anthem, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr Imtiwati Jamir, the Principal of the college. Rev Ponen Longchar invoked grace for the day, which was followed by the oath-taking ceremony administered by the Sports Secretary, Sentiyanger Jeremy Jamir.
During his speech, Dr Tiwari emphasized the potential of sports as a career for youngsters and stressed that the spirit of sportsmanship should extend beyond the sports week in the college. The sports events officially began with the kick-off by Dr Tiwari.
The college annual sports meet is scheduled to culminate on 8 March.
