Kohima, 22 April (MTNews): The Kohima District Athletics Association (KDAA) convened a significant meeting on 20 April 2024 at FERMATA Café, under the leadership of President Thepfungunyu Solo. The meeting marked a pivotal moment as the association outlined plans for the upcoming Kids Athletics Day, scheduled for 7 May 2024.

In line with directives from Nagaland Athletics, the KDAA resolved to organize the Kids Athletics Day under the theme of ‘World Mile Challenge’ at Secretariat Junction. The event aims to foster the values of athletics and foster a culture of active participation among young individuals. With a vision to ignite the passion for sports, the initiative seeks to inspire the next generation of athletes, coaches, and officials.

The Kids Athletics Day focus on the significance of physical activity, health, and overall well-being across all age groups and backgrounds. To facilitate broad participation, the event will feature three distinct categories: 4 to 7 years, 8 to 11 years, and 12 to 14 years. Participants are required to register with an entry fee of Rs 100.

The KDAA has announced a range of incentives to motivate participants. The top three performers in each category will be awarded prizes, while seven consolation prizes will be given to all the categories.

The KDAA has extended an invitation to schools within the jurisdiction of Kohima, encompassing both private and government institutions, as well as individuals keen on partaking in the event.
