Minister for Power, Parliamentary Affairs and Chief Whip of the NPF Legislature Party, KG Kenye, has called for unity, commitment and adherence to the party constitution among Naga People’s Front (NPF) workers to strengthen the organisation and advance the welfare of the people.
Kenye was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected village and town unit office bearers of the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit at Chizami Town Hall in Phek district on Thursday.
Congratulating the new office bearers, Kenye said they had been entrusted with an important responsibility and urged them to remain steadfast in upholding the party’s vision and objectives. He stressed that the party constitution must be followed and upheld, noting that every nation, religion and organisation functions according to a constitution.
On the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), Kenye said the demand originated in 2010 when the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation submitted a memorandum seeking a separate administrative arrangement. He said the issue gained momentum in 2023 and reached an advanced stage following the tripartite agreement signed on February 5, 2026, although legislative powers remain under discussion between the Centre and ENPO. He urged the public to remain informed and watchful.
Speaking on Manipur, Kenye urged vigilance along the porous Chizami-Manipur boundary and cautioned people to exercise restraint in their actions and utterances, given the geopolitical sensitivity of the Northeast. “Nagaland cannot fight another man’s war, nor should it allow the battlefield to shift into Nagaland,” he said, stressing that maintaining peace is a collective responsibility.
On the Naga political issue, Kenye said the aspiration for a solution remained strong but expressed concern over divisions among political groups. He called for unity, saying an early settlement would pave the way for peace, stability and progress.
NPF Phek Division president Chubutse Naro administered the oath to the new office bearers.
The House unanimously adopted resolutions congratulating the newly elected office bearers and expressing confidence in their dedication and commitment. It also reaffirmed support for Kenye and extended fullest support to Chief Minister and NPF president Dr Neiphiu Rio, pledging to work unitedly to strengthen the party under their leadership.
