The Khulazu Basa Students’ Union has expressed deep concern over the prolonged disruption of classes caused by the ongoing agitation of RMSA 2016 teachers, warning that students’ academic futures are at risk.

In a statement, the Union said, “For nearly a month, classes have remained paralysed, leaving students, especially those in Classes 9 and 10, struggling with unfinished syllabus at a time when their final examinations are approaching.” The Union highlighted that in some government high schools, “only one or not any teacher is qualified/left to shoulder the responsibility of senior classes,” adding that “the delay in lessons has placed the academic future of our students in grave danger.”

While expressing sympathy with the teachers in “their rightful fight for justice and fair treatment,” the Union criticized the Government of Nagaland for inaction, stating, “we cannot accept the silence and inaction of the Government, which has allowed this crisis to drag on at the cost of students’ welfare.” The statement stressed that “education is a fundamental right, and when classrooms remain empty and syllabus remain incomplete, it is the students who pay the heaviest price,” emphasizing that “every lost day in the classroom is a loss that can never be regained.”

The Union called on the Government to act immediately, urging that “students’ future cannot be held hostage to prolonged disputes” and warning that if the matter is not resolved, the Union “will be left with no choice but to resort to stronger democratic measures of protest.”

The statement concluded by asserting, “Students are the backbone of tomorrow, and their future must not be sacrificed. Unless the government acts now with urgency and responsibility, both justice and education will stand denied.”
