Kohima College observed Teachers’ Day in advance with a special programme at the college courtyard on Thursday, bringing students and faculty together to honour teachers for their guidance and dedication.
Principal Dr Vitsosie Vüprü extended Teachers’ Day greetings and described teachers as the “changemakers of our life.” He thanked students for organising the programme and stressed that teachers should be respected and honoured every day, not only on Teachers’ Day. He also presented tokens of appreciation to the faculty.
Speaking on behalf of the students, general secretary Wati Lkr said teachers mould students’ lives and often recognise their potential before they recognise it themselves. He said the occasion should go beyond an annual celebration and highlighted the lasting influence of teachers.
Representing the faculty, Assistant Professor Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu reflected on the responsibilities of teaching. She said teachers must remain willing to learn and described students as teachers to their educators, challenging assumptions and encouraging improvement.
The celebration featured cultural presentations, including “An Ode to My Teachers,” a special number and an appearance by The Tri Ds. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and benediction.
