Kevisenuo Leno and Thejangunuo Metha of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Kohima received the Sudha Das Memorial Meritorious Award 2024 on May 17, 2024, for excelling in the recently declared HSLC results.
The Sudha Das Award, which includes cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 along with citations, was instituted for the top two girl students of RGHSS for their excellence in the HSLC examination.
Kevisenuo Leno scored 86.2% marks with distinction in four subjects to receive the top award, while Thejangunuo Metha achieved 83% with distinction in three subjects to receive the second award.
Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima president Santu Thapa and RGHSS vice principal Sedengunuo Solo handed over the awards during a brief program held at the school auditorium in the presence of Sourabh Roy, husband of the late Sudha Das, her cousin and president of the Nagaland Gorkha Association, Nobin Pradhan, and well-wishers.
In his brief address, Sourabh Roy spoke on the objective of the award and mentioned that the school was chosen because the late B.K. Das, father of the late Sudha Das, was a former Headmaster of RGHSS.
RGHSS teacher Thechano chaired the program, while Teacher Denuvi offered prayers. Leaders of various Gorkha associations in Kohima also attended the program.
