The Red Ribbon Club of Model Christian College, Kohima, in collaboration with the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, successfully conducted an awareness program on HIV/AIDS and screening at the college auditorium today.
The event began at 10:00 AM, hosted by Liniu V. Yepthomi (B.A. 5th Semester). The program opened with an invocation by Eteu Cho (B.A. 5th Semester), followed by a welcome address from Kevilenuo Zao, Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, who emphasized the need for collective efforts and involvement in HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
A special message was delivered by Sulivi Assumi, Social & Cultural Secretary of LTTYO, focusing on combating stigma and encouraging community health-driven initiatives.
The event also featured a special musical performance by Vimugha Yeptho (B.A. 3rd Semester), adding an engaging cultural touch to the session.
The highlight of the program was an awareness talk by Sentimongla Tzudir, District Program Officer, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), who served as the resource person. She provided valuable insights into HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention strategies, current healthcare initiatives, and the importance of early screening and treatment.
The Red Ribbon Club’s initiative provided valuable information about HIV/AIDS prevention while addressing the importance of eliminating social stigma. The program witnessed active participation from students and faculty, reinforcing the college’s commitment to promoting health awareness and social responsibility among youth. The program concluded with positive feedback from participants and the opportunity for free health screening for attendees.
