The Sütsa Academy, a center for teaching and learning the Sümi language, was inaugurated at Mt. Olive College, Kohima, on March 26, 2025.

Chairman of the Sümi Literature Board (SLB), Vihoshe Muru, lauded the governing body and the entire fraternity of Mt. Olive College, Kohima (MOCK), for taking such a bold and positive initiative in establishing the Sütsa Academy. He described it as a red-letter day for MOCK, marking a significant step in the growth of the Sütsa (Sümi language) toward excellence. Muru emphasized that the Academy’s purpose is to preserve and promote the Sümi language and its literature. He further encouraged students to take a keen interest in learning Sümi, as it is an integral part of their identity (Sütsa no Sümi Jumichi).

Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sümi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK), Lukheto Yeptho thanked the SLB for granting permission to the college authorities to run the academy and expressed hope that it would achieve excellence in the near future.

Chairman and Managing Director of MOCK, K Shiwoto Wotsa informed the gathering that the Sütsa Academy is an integral part of MOCK and will function under the guidance of the Sümi Literature Board. He also emphasized that the academy is open to everyone, not just the Sümi community, and welcomes anyone interested in learning the Sümi language and its heritage.
